<p>Asteroids have us in their sights. The dinosaurs didn’t have a space program, so they can’t discuss this issue. We are here, and we have the ability to make a difference. I don’t want to be the embarrassment of the galaxy, having had the power to deflect an asteroid and then failing to do so, ultimately leading to extinction.</p>

<p>Let’s rethink the entire classification of solar system objects and not cling to this notion of ‘planet,’ which, after all, merely asked, ‘Do you move against the background stars, regardless of your composition?’</p>
